03.12.2024 || HELP Society or Helping Everyone Live and Prosper Society, in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit, Dima Hasao, organised an impactful Awareness Programme on Child Protection Issues at Covenant English School, Mahur, Dima Hasao. This initiative aimed to educate and empower students on crucial child protection topics, fostering a safer environment for the younger generation.
The program featured detailed discussions and activities focused on the following critical child protection topics:
- Child Abuse: Students were educated on recognizing various forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. The session emphasized the importance of reporting such incidents promptly to trusted adults or authorities. Practical advice on how to support peers who may be victims of abuse was also provided.
- Child Labour: The harmful effects of child labour on education, health, and overall well-being were explored. The speakers highlighted the legal frameworks in place to combat child labour and encouraged students to advocate for the right of every child to a safe and nurturing childhood.
- Child Marriage: The program addressed the social and legal consequences of child marriage, shedding light on its impact on health, education, and future opportunities. Students were urged to be vigilant and informed about their rights to stand against such practices.
- Good Touch & Bad Touch: A key segment of the session focused on helping children understand personal safety and boundaries. Through interactive activities, students learned to distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate behavior and were guided on how to seek help if they feel uncomfortable or threatened.
- Other Critical Child Protection Concerns: Broader discussions covered the various challenges faced by children in today’s world, such as online safety, bullying, and mental health issues. Practical solutions and resources for addressing these challenges were shared with the students.
The event saw active participation from the students and faculty of Covenant English School. The interactive nature of the session allowed students to ask questions and share their perspectives, further enhancing their understanding of these critical issues.
