Haflong, 20th August 2024 – On the occasion of World Mosquito Day, Helping Everyone Live and Prosper Society Haflong, in collaboration with the National Center for Vector Borne Disease (NCVBDC), Department of Health & Family Welfare, Dima Hasao, successfully organized a Dengue Awareness Camp at CHT Synod High School, Haflong. The event aimed to educate students about Dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases, highlighting the critical need for preventive measures to protect communities.

The awareness camp saw active participation from students and teachers, all eager to learn about the dangers of mosquito-borne diseases. The event concluded with the distribution of educational leaflets that provided vital information on preventing the spread of diseases like Dengue, Malaria, and Chikungunya. These materials were designed to empower students with the knowledge needed to take preventive measures, not just for themselves, but for their families and communities.

A highlight of the event was the presence of several esteemed guests who shared their expertise on the subject. Dr. PK Gonju, Chief Medical Officer cum District Malaria Officer, Dima Hasao, spoke about the rising threat of Dengue in the region and the critical role that community awareness plays in controlling its spread. He was joined by Debajit Saikia, District Vector Borne Disease Consultant, who discussed the importance of environmental management and the elimination of mosquito breeding sites as key strategies in the fight against vector-borne diseases. Subash Chakraborty, a Lab Technician from NCVBDC, provided insights into the scientific aspects of mosquito-borne diseases and the importance of early detection and treatment.

Surojeet Das, President of Help Society, also addressed the gathering, expressing his thoughts on the significance of such awareness initiatives. “In the battle against mosquito-borne diseases, education and awareness are our strongest tools.
